On the long flight from Rome to Colombo for the beginning of Pope Francis’s week long trip to Sri Lanka and the Philippines, the Holy Father took the time to briefly greet the journalists on the papal flight.
“The flight went well,” said Father Federico Lombardi, SJ, the head of the Holy See Press Office.
He said the reporters remained seated, while Pope Francis circulated among them, greeting each one personally with a few words. Father Lombardi said the Pope did not give a speech during the flight.
